The Icebox
Eleven cards on one board is a board you stop reading. The Icebox parks the agent sessions you are not working with right now and keeps their conversations.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”Move to Icebox on a card takes it off the board and ends the session’s process on the host. The conversation stays: Offsite archives the CLI’s resume data before it parks the session, so a parked card gives its memory back to the host and loses nothing.
Move to Board brings it back at the board edge where a new session would start, as a strip across half the board, and the other cards make room. Once the card is on the board, the agent starts again and picks up its conversation through the CLI’s own resume.
The Icebox opens from its button in the toolbar on the Mac, and from the workspace pane on the iPhone and iPad. It lists everything parked in the current workspace. A parked session’s menu moves it back to the board, on to the Archive, renames it or deletes it.
When to use it
Section titled “When to use it”- A plan for later, or a feature that waits for another one to land.
- A session you will come back to tomorrow.
- Reclaiming board space and host memory without the decision of “do I still need this?”.
If you are done with a session, move it to the Archive instead. Both keep the conversation; the Icebox is for work that is coming back. A turn that is still running ends when you park the session, so park an agent between turns.
What can be parked
Section titled “What can be parked”Agent sessions that belong to you: Claude, Codex and Grok cards, with their conversation, from the board or from the tab bar. A card from the tab bar comes back onto the board.
Details
Section titled “Details”- Iceboxing moves the card and parks the session: the card’s
placementbecomesicebox, the previous board geometry is stored asicebox_previous_board_item, and the record’sstatebecomesparkedwithpark_reasonicebox. Move to Board sends it back through the restore path. - The host enforces the agent-only rule
(
workspace_card_capabilities(...).can_icebox), so the same restriction holds on every client and over the CLI. - CLI equivalent on the host:
offsite-host sessions icebox --session-id <id> --iceboxed/--no-iceboxed, with--destination archivefor the Archive. - Move to Board places the card on the same board edge a newly started session takes.
- Move to Icebox lives on the card menu of a board card, on both platforms.
