Offsite runs your coding agents on a machine you own, your Mac or a Linux box, and mirrors them live to your Mac and your iPhone. It is in private beta. If something is not working, or if something should exist and does not, get in touch.

The fastest line is the feedback form in the app: on the Mac under Offsite › Send Feedback or in Settings, on the iPhone in the app menu behind the paper-plane button next to the Offsite title, or in Settings. It sends what you typed, the category you picked, the platform, the app version and update channel, and the OS version. A screenshot, your email for replies and the recent app log go along only if you attach them. Or email hello@offsite.sh.

A report gets fixed much faster when it carries:

• the app version and the host version: on the Mac at the bottom of the sidebar, on the iPhone under Settings › App and in the host’s Overview;
• which host: This Mac, a remote Mac, or Linux; and which device: Mac or iPhone;
• what the connection pill said: This Mac, LAN, Tailscale, Direct, or Relay;
• what you did, as a click path, and what happened, with the exact message if there was one.

Common questions

How do I get the apps?

The iPhone app ships through the App Store. The Mac app is in private beta. Join the waitlist and you get one email when it is your turn.

What do I need?

A host: a Mac (Apple Silicon, macOS 26 or newer) or a Linux machine you can reach over SSH, with at least one agent CLI you are logged in to: Claude Code, Codex CLI or Grok CLI. The iPhone app needs iOS 18 or newer. No account.

A Linux host needs glibc 2.28 or newer (Ubuntu 20.04 and Debian 10 onwards). On x86_64, Claude Code also needs a CPU with AVX2. The setup checks both before it installs anything.

How do I set up a host?

On a Linux machine, run curl -fsSL https://get.offsite.sh/setup.sh | sh. It installs the host into ~/.offsite and opens the setup in the terminal: your agents, how your phone reaches the host, and at the end a pairing QR code, with a host code when the relay is on. If tmux or git is missing, the setup installs it with your package manager, which needs sudo.

To keep the host reachable after you log out or reboot, run loginctl enable-linger <user> once. On a Mac, the Mac app sets up This Mac in one screen, with a health check that fixes what is missing.

How do I pair my iPhone?

• Scan from Mac on the first screen of the iPhone app scans the pairing QR code: the one at the end of the setup in the terminal, or the one the Mac app shows.
• Or type the eight-character host code, shown as X3YK-47Z3, into the Host code field.
• Enter Manually takes the host’s address, your user and your password or SSH key, for a host where Offsite Host is already installed.
• With hosts saved, the same three are under Add Host.

My iPhone does not connect

• Pair it first, as above.
• On the same Wi-Fi the phone reaches the host directly. Away from it, the phone needs a path to the host: your own Tailscale or VPN, or the optional relay, which the setup offers to switch on.
• Check that the app and the host are on the same release. A running app keeps its old protocol until you fully restart it. When the host is older, the iPhone app offers to update it.

I am not getting notifications

• Allow notifications for Offsite in iOS Settings, and per device in Offsite’s settings.
• A push only goes to a device that is not currently connected in the foreground. While the app is open and attached, the same event arrives over your own connection.

How do I remove Offsite?

Delete the app from your iPhone; the hosts, passwords and keys it saved go with it. On a Linux host, list Offsite’s services with systemctl --user list-units | grep -i offsite, stop each with systemctl --user disable --now <unit>, then delete ~/.offsite. On a Mac, Reset Host in the Mac app’s Host Settings does both. Your repositories stay as they are. To have data deleted that we hold, such as feedback you sent or the relay’s entries for your host, email hello@offsite.sh.

Privacy and security

The security page lists every byte that leaves your machines, and the privacy policy covers the legal side of the same facts. In short: your code, prompts and terminal output travel only between your own devices, over SSH.
